Quote of the day..

“Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness.”
Robertson Davies

Meanwhile, in other news, I have recently been drinking far too much of this stuff..

..oh, don’t get me wrong – as acque minerali goes, it’s one of the best.. but I can’t help but be reminded of Leo McGarry in the West Wing.. “Ah, that tastes like… nothing at all. It has no tastes or properties of any kind.”

  1. Ah, another variation of the “Glass is half full”. My glass is always half-full, just with the wrong thing.

Leo M has some great sayings. My favorite was “Maybe the camel’s back was already broken, but you gave him the straw and then drove over him with a tank!”

  2. Pellegrino? I love that stuff. It tastes like it’s water that’s good for you the old fashioned way, not with all the foo-foo colors and sugars and special vitamins that Jennifer Aniston drinks.

I always have a case of Pellegrino in the house. It’s what I’ll be drinking when the big earthquake hits.

I was just packing away my Deptford Trilogy this week. How funny is that?

  3. A long standing beach fave.
Served with chilled honeydew melon on a sweltering day…Almost as good as sex!
But oh the misery Mr Davies. Some people are just born uncomfortable with life. Speaking from experience, it only takes one long stretch of negative thinking before it becomes a crutch requiring retraining the train of thought.
Gimme the goddamned melon & water for christ’s sake! )-:
