What so proudly we hailed..

Just watched the preamble to the Superbowl – hey, I’m a guy – and heard somebody called Jordan Sparks singing The Star Spangled Banner. Gotta tell ya, if you didn’t see it – try to. She’s no mean singer, but the arrangement was quite spectacular. Caught me entirely by surprise, brought a tear to the eye and a lump to the throat. Don’t worry, I’m not actually going to watch the game or anything..

  1. … I had the opposite feeling i hate when singers distort the sound way to much with the vibrato and pitch changes… like the singer is trying to outperform the song.

  2. Wow, that was quick.. I don’t think she over-performed at all, especially given the circumstances – but the thing I was knocked out by was more the musical arrangement. Pretty damn adventurous voicings and substitutions for a Superbowl crowd..

  3. The bar was set, when a pre-crack Whitney killed it in ’91-I agree with Mr. C here-the arrangement was fantastic, and she did a wonderful job!

Oh, and by the way: ELI’S COMING!

  4. He looked like a corpse-but, as my father said to me at halftime, ‘I presume he hasn’t been to kind to his body over the years’….couldn’t agree more…

You still watching, Andy? Did I mention how cool the new track is? How are rehearsals going? Get at me, dog… 🙂

  5. Touchdown Giants!

    And “to” is spelled “too”

And, ‘get at me dog is quite the naf saying’…sorry, again…BEER!

  6. G-MEN!!!!!
Ms. Sparks exhibited those trendy & current vocal gymnastics, and the music was a beautiful push button gut check arrangement. Great.
The halftime entertainment? I still don’t get it. I didn’t realize Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were in the echelon of superstar entertainers that usually do this show. Whatever! They are now. Somebody high up working the selection committee was obviously a huge Petty fan.
