Arrivederci Italia..

Back in Blighty. Not delirious about the fact.

But before we put aside all things Italian for another season, I think there’s time for one last piece of Grand Opera from perhaps the preeminent operatic musician of his generation. A brilliant pianist, a rousing tenor, and even a startlingly convincing soprano, he’s seen here in a bravura performance of one of the timeless classics that he made his own…

Currently sitting on a balcony overlooking the sea, in a little Italian seaside town called Lerici. All the essentials in easy reach – Peroni, insalata mista, cigarettes (‘il fumo uccide’ indeed!) and an unfeasibly impressive wi-fi connection – so I thought we’d have a little something from the greatest Italian of them all.
